As an owner of a thriving sample sounds and loops company it is difficult for me to get excited at times about the samples, sounds and music textures used in some of the records I’ve been hearing lately. However, I must admit….the new Jay Z and Drake records (Run This Town, Best I Ever Had, and the other massive joint with Kanye, Lil Wayne, and Em) make me wanna make a beat! Me and my girl were on the freeway the other day and Drake hit the airwaves and I shamelessly found myself in a full head nod mode….looked to my left and the driver was right there with me….head nodding….I was tired, had stayed in the studio till 6 am the morning before and was up at 9:30 to take my girl to an appointment. I had planned to drop her off, go home and get some sleep, but after hearing Drake and Jay Z back to back I had to go to the studio. Got there, flipped on all the switches, and went to work. The result will be new Drake and Jay Z inspired sample sound and loop packages from www.novaloops.com……and some very hot records for my girl (who’s an RnB artist) Laydi Jane. So after working for hours on these new construction loop sets, and sample sounds….something weird happened…….I wasn’t tired anymore.
